 Schmersal's SMS4 and SMS5 safety pressure mats
Safety pressure mats are used to safeguard personnel around machinery with hazardous movement, such as wood processing machines or robotic arms. They provide a slip free surface that is highly resistant to chemicals such as acids, caustic solutions, oil, and gasoline.
Schmersal offers two safety pressure mat series:
SMS4
The SMS 4 series is connected to the floor by means of an aluminum profile and special corner sections. As a result of the beveled form of the profile, tripping hazards are avoided. The aluminum profile additionally serves as edge protection, when fork-lift trucks or other floor conveyors drive over the safety mats. The aluminum trim extends each edge by 62mm beyond the active area of the mat.
SMS5
The SMS 5 series features a ramp profile directly molded to the active surface of the safety mat. The ramp profile helps avoid tripping hazards and eliminates the need for the aluminum trim. Each edge of the mat is extended by 35mm beyond the active area.
Both series of mats are available in 6 standard sizes, but can be customized to individual application requirements - color, dimensions, special shapes, or tread patterns. They meet the requirements of control category 3 (EN 954-1) when used with a Schmersal SRB 301HC Safety Controller.

SLC 220
The Control Category Type 2 safety light curtain has a 40 mm diameter uninterrupted housing profile which provides a rigid body to reduce misalignments from torsion or bending. These curtains feature integrated blanking, restart, and EDM Feedback. They are available in 30 mm or 80 mm resolution, 12 protection heights from 175 mm to 1675 mm, and have a range up to 14 meters. This series is also available as a 2, 3, or 4 beam safety light grid.
SLC 420
The Control Category Type 4 safety light curtain features a 49 mm diameter uninterrupted housing profile which provides a rigid body to reduce misalignments from torsion or bending. These curtains feature integrated blanking, restart, and EDM Feedback. They are available in 14, 30, or 50 mm resolution, 21 protection heights from 170 mm to 1770 mm, and have a range up to 18 meters. This series is also available as a 2, 3, or 4 beam safety light grid.
SLC IP69K
The SLC 220 and SLC 420 light curtains and light grids are also available in special IP69K rated housings. These units are sealed with pre-wired cables which make them able to withstand high temperature, up to 175°, and high pressure wash downs, up to 1450 psi. They are suitable for use in hygiene-sensitive and hygiene-critical applications in the food processing, pharmaceutical, beverage, meat packaging, and medical industries.
SLC 425I
This safety light curtain features integrated muting, blanking, and cyclic function. The muting function allows materials to pass out of the hazardous area, while still preventing operators from entering. The cyclic function allows the interruption of the protection zone to control machine cycles. The SLC425i is available in 14 or 30 mm resolution, with 21 different protection heights from 170 mm to 1770 mm, and has a range up to 10 meters. This series is also available as a 2, 3, or 4 beam safety light grid.
SLC 430
The SLC430 Series was specifically designed for handling units and plants with confined construction space and therefore little room for the non-contact protection of the hazardous area. This ultra compact safety light curtain features a 1/2" wide and 7/8" deep housing. The Type 4 SLC430 safety light curtain is available in 30 mm resolution and 8 protection heights from 236 mm to 1804 mm.
